UNDERSTANDING THE EXPERIENCE

Infrared or Traditional: What Changes?

01Health benefits

An infrared sauna significantly promotes the excretion of toxins during perspiration compared to a traditional sauna. Roughly 20% of perspiration will be the removal of toxins compared to just 3% from using a traditional sauna

02Running cost

Infrared saunas are much cheaper to operate. The monthly cost for every day use of a 1 person sauna is roughly £10 - £11, compared to £45 - £50 for a small traditional sauna. Running costs will vary depending on your tariff.

03Warm up time

Infrared saunas are typically ready to use within 10 minutes, whereas a traditional sauna can take 40 minutes to warm up making infrared much more convenient for daily use

04How the heat is delivered

Infrared saunas use radiant panels to warm the body and nearby surfaces. Traditional saunas primarily heat the surrounding air using a stove and heated stones.

05Comfort - How the room feels

Infrared saunas are generally much more comfortable due to being typically dry and they operate at lower air temperatures, typically 50 to 65 degrees. Traditional saunas are hotter, with humidity briefly increasing when water is poured over the stones.

06Temperature and control

Infrared sessions generally use lower cabin temperatures and allow for longer sessions - typically up to 40 minutes compared to 20 minutes in a traditional sauna. Traditional saunas use higher air temperatures, often across shorter rounds. Settings and guidance vary by model.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Clear Answers, Before You Order

Exact requirements can vary by model. Always refer to the individual product specifications before purchase.

01How do I choose the right sauna size?

Start with capacity, then compare the external dimensions with your available space and full delivery route. Check doorways, corridors and access points before ordering.

02Does the sauna require hard-wiring?

No. Each sauna uses a plug-in electrical configuration and do not require customer hard-wiring. Always follow the electrical requirements supplied with your exact sauna.

03Does the sauna require assembly?

Yes. The sauna is delivered in a protective wooden crate and requires assembly. Please follow the supplied assembly instructions carefully.

04How long will delivery take?

Please allow approximately 8–12 weeks for production and delivery of our saunas to UK addresses. For ice baths and chillers, please allow approximately 6–8 weeks for delivery.

05Do I need a chiller for an ice bath?

Not necessarily. A chiller is optional, but it can make it easier to maintain a more consistent water temperature without relying on ice. We also offer a compatible chiller for the Caldrune Air Ice Bath, giving you the option to create a more complete cold-therapy setup.

06What is your returns policy for saunas?

Returns are subject to the Caldrune Returns & Refund Policy. Please review the conditions that apply to large products and products that have been assembled or installed before ordering. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
